1 Corinthians 13:4-5
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil.
Love is measured by patient, selfless action rather than mere feeling.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The cross is the ultimate proof of how far God's love will go.
1 John 4:19
We love him, because he first loved us.
Our capacity to love is a response to being loved by God first.
Romans 8:38-39
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life... shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Nothing in all creation can sever the believer from God's love.

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
Loving others is evidence of a heart that truly knows God.
